Morning Activities To Jumpstart Your Day

Good morning rituals are the cornerstone of a great day. A solid routine can leave you feeling energised whilst calm enough to tackle anything life throws at you. Since we’re all about offering you a great start to your day here at Cornerstone, we thought it was about time we shared with you how some of the team members get going each morning.

Oliver Bridge, founder

Oliver starts every morning with a protein-rich breakfast that fills him up until lunchtime. Think eggs; you can scramble them, boil them, fry them, and everything in between. If you’re looking to mix things up, you can always go for Greek yoghurt with fruit and nuts. It will give you the nutrients you need to feel satisfied, fuel your metabolism and help control your blood sugar levels.

Di Su, growth hacker

Di makes a green juice every morning with the veggies and fruits he finds in his fridge. His staple recipe is oranges, apples, cucumber, kale, beetroot and some celery. Not only does it taste amazingly good, but it will give you the energy boost you need to kick start your morning. Just remember to ensure you have at least 50% veggies in the mix to control your sugar intake.

Zach Marsden, customer champion

The first thing Zach does every morning is boil some water to make a homemade lemon, honey and ginger tea. Warm water is digested more easily by your body and lemon is great to boost your immune system. Ginger not only makes for a flavoursome tea but also helps to lower cholesterol levels. Honey will add a touch of sweetness whilst helping to hydrate your skin. This one’s a winner!

Isida Horncastle, product & brand

For a relaxed and calm start to the day, Isida practices some yoga every other morning. Stretching your muscles first thing will leave you energised as your full body wakes up before your morning commute. An added bonus is that yoga helps you calm your mind, leaving you extra focused for the day.

Jess Salamanca, brand marketing

When she’s not running to catch the train, Jess enjoys a bit of meditation first thing in the morning. It’s a great way to reduce stress and improve your heart rate and general wellbeing. The app HeadSpace is an office favourite as it’s great for beginners trying out meditation for the first time, as well as for those with established routines.

Charles Jing, finance & operations

To start his day right, Charles either runs or cycles into work. The energetic start to the day gives him extra energy to tackle the world of operations at Cornerstone. By being active, you pump more oxygen into your heart, lungs and brain so you’ll be more focused and motivated throughout the day.

Sam Mountford, head of tech

Sam goes straight into some jumping jacks followed by lunges. To fully wake up, she moves onto a minute or so of planking to make sure those core muscles are ready to tackle the day. Even if it’s only 5 minutes, ensuring you get your blood pumping first thing is key to a productive day.
