How to Achieve a Barber Worthy Shave at Home

We know it’s hard to get the perfect shave , so we’ve partnered up with Tom Bell, the Head Barber from Man Made London to bring you the definitive guide of how to achieve a barber-worthy shave at home using our Cornerstone products.

Watch the video and follow these easy steps to achieve a barber worthy shave at home.

Soften the stubble– shower before shaving or use a hot towel to open up pores and soften the hair, making cutting through the stubble much easier- like a hot knife through butter!

Face scrub– make sure to use a face scrub at least a couple of times a week as this helps release in-grown hairs so you have fewer bumps for your razor to catch on. It also lifts away any dead skin leaving your skin smoother and clearer.

Shave gel– using a good quality shave gel is key as it protects your skin whilst shaving. Make sure your face & neck area are sufficiently covered with the shave gel before you start shaving.

Sharp, fresh blades– fresh blades will give a better shave as it requires fewer passes over the face to achieve the same closeness- so this means less potential for skin irritation.

The Shave– always shave in the direction of stubble growth. If you need to make a second pass make sure you don’t apply too much pressure. If necessary, shave across the grain at right angles, but never against the grain- it will be sore and you’ll get in-grown hairs.

Rinsing Blades– make sure to rinse the blades under a hot running tap between each stroke. If you haven’t shaved for a few days we’d recommend that you use electric trimmers before wet shaving.

Post shave balm– always finish your shaving routine by applying a good quality post shave balm. This helps restore the natural moisture balance to your skin.

That’s it chaps- follow these steps and you’ll achieve a barber worthy shave at home every time you shave!
