#WednesdayWoes: Choosing the Right Aftershave

We all know that using a post shave balm is the last step in your shaving routine, but that’s not necessarily true of your overall grooming routine. The next step is, yep you’ve guessed it, aftershave.

Aftershave is a very personal thing, not all fragrances suit everyone. Some of us who find one fragrance we like and stick to it- we’d like to think it’s our signature scent. However there are others who prefer to mix it up a bit especially when it comes to the changing seasons.

We here at Cornerstone tend to stick to just using one or two trusted aftershaves. One slightly heavier aftershave for the colder months and evenings, and one that’s a little lighter and best to wear on a daily basis or during the summer.

As we’ve finally entered the warmer months, we thought we’d share our tried and tested favourite summer scents.

If you’re looking for the quintessential summer smell then Tom Ford Neroli Portofino, or Acqua di Parma Arancia di Capri, will be the perfect choice for you. It’s Italian summer in a bottle- or two. However if you’re looking for a fresher smell then we’d recommend you go for Dior Homme- the grapefruit undertones make for a very zesty scent.

For an all-rounder, you can’t go wrong with Bleu de Chanel or Terre D’Hermès. They’re both classics, and if we’re being honest can easily be worn all year round. If you’re looking for something a little different and unique then give Gentlemen Only Casual Chic by Givenchy a go. You might think the woody base isn’t summer appropriate but it’s a surprisingly fresh aftershave, perfect for the warmer days and balmy nights.

There you have it. You could say our selection is pretty classic, but that’s how we’d like to think of ourselves. After all, a scent says a lot about you.
