Cornerstone Recommends: Stay-cations

Jetting abroad to far flung places is always a great idea (if you’ve got the means to do so), but what if you’re time poor and even a trip to the South of France is too far away for you? What originally was meant to be a relaxed long weekend quickly becomes a nightmare, and you’re back at your desk feeling more tired than you were before your break!

A stay-cation is what you need. We sometimes forget that we have plenty of weekend break options here in the UK without having to set aside too much time for getting there and back- perfect for maximising your wind-down time.

So with that in mind we set about finding a few weekend getaways worth keeping in mind.

The Cotswolds

One of our team’s favourite places in the UK is the Cotswolds. The peaceful scenic surroundings are perfect if you’re looking for a break from city life.

We’re particularly fond the relatively-newly opened Foxhill Manor- a home away from home. We mean that quite literally. It only has 8 bedrooms and it’s designed to make you feel like you’re staying at your country manor for the weekend. It’s luxurious, but without the pomp.

Isle of Wight

If you really want to get away from it all then the Isle of Wight is the one. Not only is it tranquil but it provides for some pretty awesome sea views and magnificent cliffs.

The Gotten Manor in quaint Chale is the perfect B&B if you’re looking for a romantic weekend. The scenic surroundings and old-fashioned opulence make for a great stay-cation.

Bath

If you’re looking for stay-cation a little less secluded than the previous options, then we highly recommend The Royal Crescent Hotel and Spa in Bath. It’s a magnificent Grade I listed building with all the mod cons, so whether you want to make full use of the spa facilities or wander through the streets of picturesque Bath or even pay a visit to neighbouring Bristol, you can do no wrong with opting for this stay-cation.
