Grooming Tips for the Busy Man

Grooming Tips for the Busy Man

Looking your best is something we all want to do every time we step out our front door, but sometimes it’s just not feasible to go through the full grooming routine every single time. So we’ve compiled our list of favourite grooming tips for the guys who are dashing out the door and need to shave minutes off their morning routine.

We’ve all been there, rushing for the tube or train in the mid-summer heat only to be met by a sauna-like atmosphere when you get on. Your clothes are clinging to you by the time you step off at your stop, leaving you feeling pretty grim to start the day.

General Hygiene

Using wet wipes is a perfect way to freshen up. Whether that’s before you even start the workday after the sauna-like commute or just going out for drinks after a long day in the office. Although let’s all agree on this just now – it’s no replacement for showering.

Hair Care

Keep your hair looking good and your scalp healthy without taking up any more time? Sounds a bit far-fetched, but here are two simple changes you can make that’ll have major benefits to how you look. Keeping your scalp healthy is as simple as turning the heat down slightly on your shower; the hotter a shower is, the greater the chance your scalp is going to dry out. Then, once out the shower, most men grab a towel and rub their hair vigorously until dry – not a good idea. Ideally, use an old cotton t-shirt to dry your hair. We know this may sound a little wacky, but the fabric of the t-shirt is gentler on your hair, causing fewer breakages and leaving your hair in far better health, which means you won’t need to spend time fussing over it before heading out the door.

Travel Sized

Frequent flyers might have already cottoned on to this, but another great grooming tip for the busy man is decanting grooming products into travel-sized bottles. Leaving them in your desk drawer at work means that if for whatever reason you’ve had to rush in, you can make up for skipping your routine later in the day. Don’t buy travel-sized branded products though; these are usually far more expensive than buying the bottles and doing it on your own.

Shaving

Our final tip is a bit of a well-known timesaver – shaving immediately after a shower. The steam from the shower has your pores open already, perfectly priming your face for shaving. It’s easier to pass the blades over your skin and get a close shave, however whilst we’re taking minutes off the pre-shave, don’t skip the important post-shave routine to help close your pores, or you risk breaking out or irritating your skin.
