It seems pretty straightforward, you think you know how to wash your own hair properly, but do you really know what you’re doing? Is your technique really getting to the heart of your roots or are you just hindering your hair care routine? Do you single or double wash? Do I or don’t I use a conditioner? We’re here to help with your concerns and answer your questions on washing your hair correctly.
Shampoo twice
According to many hair care experts, double shampooing is an absolute must, and we tend to agree. Many people who wash once tend to not actually clean their hair properly and just leave it with a filter that masks it as dull and shine-less. When shampooing twice, you ensure that the first wash removes all grime and dirt and the second leaves it super squeaky and clean. What more, we have a number of super exciting new products coming soon and yes, you guessed it, we have a shampoo in the pipeline.
Don’t use too much product.
One of the main mistakes we all make and can make a habit of is using too much shampoo. When in the shower, if we don’t concentrate we can end up adding more and more product whilst forgetting to actually build up and put the product to work in your hair. Just remember, washing twice doesn’t mean you’re using more shampoo, you will probably find you’re using less when you use a penny sized dollop in your palm. Lather up and massage into your hair, easy peasy.

Wash every two to three days
For most hair types it is healthiest to wash every two to three days, however, if you have fine hair you may want to wash more frequently, whereas curly or afro hair may last a little longer. It’s worth noting that if you start to double wash, you can potentially leave your washes longer as you’re deep cleaning so well that your hair lasts longer rather than just scratching the surface.
Depending on your hair type, use a conditioner
The conditioner really depends on your hair type. If you have very fine hair, you might want to leave it out of your online basket, however, it is useful to keep some in case your hair ever becomes dry or coarse. If you find yourself with really thick hair you will most likely see results by using a good amount. With thick hair, make sure you wring your hair out as too much water will dilute your conditioner.
