Top Tips For Your Skin During The Colder Months

Our skin can take a battering during the colder months so it’s important to have a solid skincare routine. Here are Cornerstone’s tips to help avoid dry skin, tightness and itching for healthy and hydrated skin.

Stay Hydrated

Stay hydrated with fluids and make sure you keep up your exercise routine. In the summer months, we look superb as we’re taking in plenty of liquids and exercising numerous times a week (especially outdoors). During the autumn and winter months, continue doing what you’re doing. It doesn’t necessarily have to be outdoors, but continue to exercise to get that blood circulating and get your pulse up whilst taking in lots of fluids.

Bath & Shower The Same

This may sound odd and as tempting as it may be (and it is incredibly tempting) don’t turn up the heat in your bath or shower during the winter months as hot water dehydrates your skin. Your usual warm water showers from the summer months are skin safe, so keep it that way, wash your face with a good quality face wash, switching it up with a face scrub a couple of times a week and always remember to towel blot dry. Always keep a good quality, sharp razor close by as your skin is most irritable during the winter months, so make sure not to use a blunt razor which will only irritate dry skin.

Choose a Good Quality Moisturiser

It can be tempting to skip the moisturiser or post-shave balm during the warmer months, however, its imperative to use a good quality daily moisturiser during winter and on the days you shave make sure to add an alcohol-free post-shave balm to really sooth and hydrate your skin.

Lifestyle Plays Its Part Too

It’s not all easy or fantastic genetics, your daily lifestyle and diet play a major part in your skin, and this doesn’t stop when the clocks go back for the winter months. We know it’s difficult, but when possible, eat as clean and green as you can! Broccoli is particularly packed with skin-boosting ingredients, so make sure to add that as a side of your meal prep!

Get Your Home Or Office a Humidifier

Throughout winter, we have our central heating on full blast which dries out the air. Humidifiers get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. Place several small humidifiers throughout your home; they help disperse the moisture more evenly ultimately helping your skin to stay hydrated and feeling fresh.
